Knits: where are they now?

My dad has been the recipient of not one, but TWO pairs of handknitted socks; however, he doesn't often have an appropriate occasion to wear them, living in the desert in California.

He was in Chicago last week, though, the week they got 2 feet of snow and temperatures were in the single-digits the entire week. How fortunate it was that he had packed the socks I made for him! He told me that he would start the day out in regular socks, but before lunchtime he was always up in the hotel room, layering his warm wool socks over his thin dress socks. They were the only socks that could keep his feet warm.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why I knit.
